Cold Water Storage Tank Remedial Work

Project Cold Water Storage Tank Remedial Work
Project Date March 2012
Client Industry Education
Client Location Co. Louth, Ireland
Environmental Services Ireland

Client Requirements

A client in the Education Sector contacted Environmental Services Ireland (ESI) to complete remedial upgrade work on a site cold water storage tank, as recommended in a Legionella Risk Assessment. The mains water supply into the large cold water storage tank was positioned at the same side of the tank as the outlet pipework. This resulted in poor turnover of water in the tank.

Environmental Services Ireland proposed to relocate the mains inlets on the cold water storage tank to the opposite side from the outlets thereby encouraging flow across the tank and compliance with the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, National Guidelines for the Control of Legionellosis in Ireland, 2009. Access hatches were installed over the new inlet ball valve locations to allow for inspection and maintenance operations.
